about me
i never planned on photographing people. yep, that’s right. my life (and education) was journalism until my husband and i moved to the masai mara, kenya in 2005. i bought and brought a used nikon d70 to photograph our adventure, and i fell in love with the clunky sound of the shutter, the dusty quality of the light, the spectacular wildlife. it was magic.

at the time I told myself i could never photograph people - it would be too much stress. i imagined that photographing people meant i would no longer capture moments unfolding, i would have to create them, pose them, shape them, light them. cheetahs just did cheetah things in whatever light the sky was giving that day. giraffes didn't require a three-point lighting set-up.

it took my (reluctantly) photographing a friend’s wedding for me to realise that photography can be fun (yes, fun!)
people who are looking for alternative, authentic photography want candid, natural, documentary-style photos, and they want images that capture their personalities, their joy, their emotion. the real beauty of the moment.
those people are my people. they don’t fit defined physical characteristics. they feel and express their feelings and don't request me to photoshop their double chins (because their double chins are beautiful and they know it).

if that sounds like you - the ones who don’t necessarily love their photos being taken, but love to laugh at stupid jokes and cry when they're moved to, then you should have filled in my contact form by now, because you’re already one of my people and we can make magic together.

as you’ve guessed by now, i’m an alternative, creative photographer.
photography has taken me on incredible adventures across the world, from intimate elopements on top of a mountain in samburu to epic 5000+ indian wedding parties. i spent two years as the personal photographer for a world-renown business and lifestyle guru and had the honour of photographing the wedding of a canadian celebrity couple. my clients are quirky and wonderful and important and special.
i spend a lot of time with you during a wedding, birth or portrait session, which is why it’s important that i get to know you, and you get to know me. i want you to feel comfortable and relaxed around me so that your personality can shine through in the photos i take.

you + me = meant to be
if you made it this far, then i’m probably the photographer to spend a day with. pop over to my wedding, portrait + family and birth pricing pages and get in touch with your plans.
